Prescot Hockey Results 10th February 2018

Prescot Men 15     Blackpool  2

Prescot broke their own league goal scoring record by smashing fifteen past a sorry Blackpool. The goal festival started with Jobes, Mortimer and Boulton before Doyle and Lomax added to the rout. To be fair Blackpool have lost several players this season and tried to make a game of it. More goals from Johnson, Heaps, Boulton and Talbot condemned Blackpool to their heaviest ever defeat. The huge win has put Prescot top of the North West One scoring charts again but an indifferent start to 2018 means promotion this year might be out of reach.

South Manchester 4       Prescot 2nds    2

The Prescot twos were missing a few senior players and after conceding two early goals against Manchester it looked as though a heavy defeat was on the cards. However, Prescot settled into a good rhythm and forced the opposition keeper into several saves. Just on half time Hayes netted from a penalty corner to keep Prescot well in the game. South Manchester are a good top four side and scored from the restart and poured forward. The Prescot defence held firm for long periods and then Maher scored for Prescot from a well worked penalty corner. Prescot pushed on for an equaliser but conceded a fourth against the run if play in the final minute. With five Prescot players aged 14 playing for long periods against a senior team it was a fantastic result and the club has a thriving junior hockey section producing some real quality players.
