Last night would be thieves attempted to break in to the Pavilion building on Eaton Street Park. This is not the first time such attempts have been made, however this was a more concerted effort and has resulted in more than cosmetic damage. Having scaled the perimeter fence the thieves used a metal rod to prise away a section of cladding only to find that the building is actually comprised of steel beneath the cladding. In spite of the fact that literally ‘nothing of value’ is held in the building, the building is designed to be secure but also has some aesthetic value by way of cladding.

Both buildings on site contain nothing more than some patio furniture (with a practically non-existent resale value)decorations for the Christmas Grotto and tea and coffee making facilities, there really is nothing worth stealing. Even if there had been we wouldn’t keep it there any longer.

 Any machinery for grounds maintenance purposes is brought to site and taken away on the same day, except for some basic tools for weeding the bedding areas, brushing up and litter picking.

The Town Council and Friends of Eaton Street Park (who give their time freely) have worked hard to provide these buildings for the benefit of the Town, enabling increased use of the Park by as many residents as possible, it really is very disappointing to see mindless acts of vandalism and now theft halt the progress the park has made over the last few years, every penny spent repairing or replacing damaged items is one less that can be spent of the development of our park.

The attempted theft has been reported to Merseyside Police, and the local team will now pay additional attention to the site.

A unique set of results as all the teams play in very competitive Leagues. Prescot Hockey Club record four wins from four for the first time in 15 years. 3 wins and a draw last week so all good!

Prescot Ladies   4    Wrexham ladies  3

The ladies put in the performance of the season with a stunning four goals against an in form Wrexham. The ladies had the better of the first half but soon found themselves two down before goals from Charlotte Middleham and Laura Anderson got them back on level terms. Wrexham then took the lead again before Jane Jennings equalised and in the final minutes Amanda Lomax kept her cool to score the winner from a penalty flick.

Prescot Men 4  Formby 1

The Prescot men got another three points in their push for promotion and sit a point off the top with a crucial game in hand. Goals from Will Jobes and Chris Lomax gave Prescot a half time lead before Mortimer added a third and Jobes wrapped up the points with his second.

Prescot Ladies 2s  4     Stockport  0

The ladies 2s are now firmly in the promotion places sitting six points clear of third. An excellent away win at Stockport with a hat trick from Lucy Wright-Perkins securing the points.

Men 2s   1   Salford 0

The mens seconds made it three wins from three with a great away win in Salford. The sides were evenly matched with Whitfield in the Prescot goal making two great saves before Johnson was scythed down in the D when clean through for Prescot. Salford had the better of the second half before Stu Ashley scored the decisive goal in the last five minutes after good work by Terry Maguire on the right wing.
