Councillor’s Expenses and Allowances

Each year an independent remuneration panel is convened by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council to investigate the requirement for Town and Parish Councillors allowances. This report is then considered by the Town Council. A copy of this years report can be seen below:

In keeping with its tradition and having regard to the Panel’s Report on allowances Prescot Town Council once again UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED NOT to pay members a Basic Allowance or any out of pocket expenses incurred as a result carrying out the role of elected member.

The Town Council will continue to pay an annual Mayoral Allowance of £850.00 to cover costs incurred carrying out Civic Duties, this payment will be subject to usual Tax and National Insurance deductions. This allowance is made to cover out of pocket expenses and provide a clothing allowance for completion of their civic duties during their term in office, any monies remaining after their term of office may be included in the Mayor’s Charitable Donations.
