Browns Field/King George Playing Field Prescot

King George V Memorial Playing Fields Prescot (Known Locally as Brown’s Field) is the larger of Prescots two public open spaces and has recently been awarded the prestigious Green Flag Award in October 2021.

Browns Field is leased to Prescot Town Council by Knowsley Metropolitan Borough a copy of the lease containing the agreed responsibilities can be seen here . The park is maintained by the Town Council’s Grounds Maintenance Provider Knowsley Council.  The park benefits from:

A traditional playground for younger children

A natural play spaces for 8-13 year olds

Two senior and one junior football pitches

Perimeter footpath on the easterly edge of the park

Parking facility

In addition to the above the park also hosts the annual Prescot Carnival usually held in the month of June. The Carnival provides a wide range of free activities and attractions for local residents.

In recent years the Town Council have worked in partnership with Knowsley Council to develop a master plan to make further improvements to the park.

These improvements include

  • New footpath network
  • New ball stop fences
  • New modern changing facilities
  • Complete pitch drainage schemes for all four pitches
  • New toddler play area
  • Installation of CCTV
  • Park benches
  • Parking area
  • Additional litter bins

The cost of making the plan a reality will be around £1 million and the Town Council will now begin the process of applying for funding to deliver on these aspirations.

Funding has recently been awarded for the replacement of the toddler play area and work is currently underway to facilitate this.

The park also benefits from an active and enthusiastic Friends Group who have played a major roll in transforming this park to its current level and its achievement of Green Flag Status. For more information on how to get involved with friends please click here.
