Are you the King or Queen of Knowsley’s Lost Castle?

Be part of this once in a lifetime opportunity celebrating the unique local history and heritage by helping to build Knowsley’s Lost Castle!

Knowsley we need YOU!

You will work as part of a creative team, with renowned French artist Olivier Grossetete, and you will help to create a huge cardboard castle that will amaze all of the people who come along to see it in its full splendour at Knowsley Safari.  You will be remembered as someone who made this happen!

Watch a LOST CASTLE project in action here or visit www.lostcastles.co.uk

The extraordinary castle structure – made entirely of cardboard, tape and community spirit – will be created in workshops and then transported to Knowsley Safari where you will be part of the team building it up to its gigantic height!  This is a cultural-first. The project is all about participation and is not possible without the support from the local community, so Knowsley, we need you!

From the 5th to 8th August 2018, we will be holding free workshops for people to come along and be part of an incredible team to re-construct Knowsley’s Castle. The inspiration for the design comes from Elsinore Castle of Shakespeare’s most famous plays, Hamlet, and will be constructed in Knowsley Safari. The workshops will take place at The Prescot School (Knowsley Park Lane, Prescot L34 3NB). There will be two workshops per day, (plus one evening session on Tuesday 7th).

The cardboard will then be transported to the final construction site, Knowsley Safari, on Friday 10th August where the team will then erect the castle over the course of the day. The construction will be made purely of cardboard boxes and tape and you do not need to have any specific skills to be part of this exciting project – just enthusiasm and a passion to be part of a great team!

The project is all about participation and is not possible without the support from the local community. You will be working with a wide variety of people from across the borough under the direction of Olivier’s artistic team and will collectively create this impressive structure which will stand in Knowsley Safari until Sunday 12th August.

All of the team, along with the passing public, are then invited to trample on and demolish the incredible structure on Sunday 12th August. This project is extremely flexible – you do not need to be available for all workshops sessions but can just attend sessions as and when you are available during the dates.
